This three year project (funded by Comic Relief) aims to improve the quality of life, financial wellbeing & financial resilience among people facing financial crisis living in rural settlements of the South Somerset District. This will be achieved by establishing and delivering money and debt advice services and targeted financial capability work. 

The project aims to work collaboratively with local advice providers to ensure accessible money and debt advice services for local residents.  The services will be delivered by Claire Summers - Outreach Advice Caseworker and Ellie Lister - Financial Capability Officer. 

Wiser£money will establish advice outlets in rural communities to deliver a comprehensive outreach advice service including: 

home visiting appointments, 

drop-ins, and 

evening & weekend services (when required).  

Advice will focus on:

  • Debt & money advice     
  • Income maximisation/ Welfare benefits·         
  • Budgeting         
  • Fuel poverty        
  • Form filling        
  • Referral & signposting. 

Wiser£money have developed this project in consultation with South Somerset District Council to ensure that the project’s services meet local needs and is accessible to local residents.
